Smart Agriculture & IoT

Smart Pest & Disease Monitoring with Early Warning

Camera-equipped traps that identify and count insects automatically, a platform that maps pest pressure, and AI models that forecast outbreaks before they spread.

Smart Pest & Disease Monitoring with Early Warning

From counting insects to predicting outbreaks

This module delivers complete, intelligent pest and disease management. Smart monitoring lamps, pheromone trap stations and networked pest control lamps capture real-time data on pest populations and activity. The intelligent remote pest forecasting lamp photographs every catch with a 20-megapixel industrial camera and uploads the images to the IoT cloud platform, where insects are recognised and counted automatically, 119 types as standard. The platform visualises pest counts, species and trends on maps and charts, and AI models forecast infestation trends and disease outbreaks. Plant protection authorities, research centres and large farms use it to give early warning, target control measures, cut pesticide use and protect yield and quality.

ASFAN supplies and supports smart pest and disease forecasting systems for plant protection authorities, research centres and farms across Saudi Arabia.

Disaster early warning

Rising trap counts and outbreak forecasts give plant protection teams time to act before pests or disease reach damaging levels.

Reduced pesticide usage

Spraying only where and when pest pressure justifies it replaces calendar spraying, lowering costs and residues.

Yield and quality protection

Timely, targeted control limits crop losses and keeps produce within quality and residue limits for local and export markets.

Regional surveillance networks

GPS-located lamps reporting to one platform build a regional picture of pest movement for authorities and extension services.

Frequently Asked Questions

How does the forecasting lamp identify insects?

It attracts insects with light, separates them from rain, spreads them on a tray and photographs them with a 20 MP industrial camera. The images are analysed on the cloud platform, which recognises and counts 119 insect types as standard, with manual correction available.

Can the lamp work in rain and storms?

Yes. Rainproof louvres, a large rain shelter, an insect and rain separation chamber that drains water automatically, rain control and lightning protection keep it working on sunny and rainy days.

Which power supply is available?

The forecasting lamp is offered in an AC version and a DC version. Pheromone and networked lamps are solar powered for remote field sites.
