Laboratory & Life Science Equipment

Molecular Biology Equipment

PCR, electrophoresis and imaging equipment for detecting pathogens, identifying varieties and studying genes in plants, animals and microorganisms.

Molecular Biology Equipment

DNA-based tools for diagnosis and research

Molecular biology equipment detects and analyses DNA, RNA and proteins. Real-time PCR systems identify and quantify plant viruses, bacteria, fungi, animal diseases and GMO events, while gradient thermal cyclers amplify DNA for genotyping, marker-assisted breeding and sequencing. Horizontal electrophoresis separates DNA fragments, vertical cells and Western blot tanks separate and transfer proteins, and UV transilluminators and gel documentation systems visualise and record the results. Plant protection and quarantine laboratories, veterinary diagnostic centres, breeding programmes, food authenticity laboratories and universities use this equipment. ASFAN supplies, installs and supports it and helps specify complete molecular laboratories.

Molecular methods detect species substitution, adulteration and genetically modified ingredients in food and feed, supporting labelling rules and consumer protection.

Protein analysis

Vertical electrophoresis and Western blot transfer separate and identify proteins, supporting research on disease resistance, stress responses and vaccine development.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is the difference between real-time PCR and a thermal cycler?

A thermal cycler amplifies DNA, and the product is then checked by electrophoresis. Real-time PCR measures fluorescence during amplification, giving quantitative results and faster diagnosis without opening the tubes afterwards.

Why choose a gradient thermal cycler?

A gradient block runs different annealing temperatures across the block in one run, so new primer pairs can be optimised quickly instead of testing each temperature separately.

What else does a PCR laboratory need?

Beyond the PCR system, plan for separate clean areas, a biological safety cabinet or clean bench, microcentrifuges, pipettes, cold storage for reagents and electrophoresis with gel documentation. ASFAN can help specify the full set-up.
