Flywheel Apparatus with Weight Machine

Flywheel Apparatus
The Flywheel Apparatus are available in a range of sizes and with adjustable inertia.
The apparatus is equally suitable for student experiments or demonstrations.
The flywheels are arranged for wall mounting. An accurately machined main disc is mounted on a shaft that
runs in low friction ball bearings.
To vary the inertia an extra ring or disc can be fastened to the main flywheel. When not in use these
additional masses are held clear of the flywheel and its shaft by mounting them on a peg.
The system is accelerated under gravity using a cord and load hanger with weights. The cord is wrapped
around the shaft and the load hanger with weights is attached to the free end.
To measure acceleration a ticker timer is used with the paper tape fastened to the flywheel periphery.
Alternatively a sensor system can be factory fitted which is linked to a PC via a USB port. Software is
supplied to calculate acceleration.
Equipment Data:
Size:- 350 x 410 x 495mm h.
Nett weight:- 23kg.
Shipping:- (with wts) 37kg gross, 0,08m3 volume.
The experiments cover angular acceleration, inertia, linear to angular acceleration, energy storage
and bear- ing friction.
