Woman at the Dentist VR Nursing Simulation
A female patient becomes unresponsive in the dental chair. The learner has to get her flat, either by adjusting the chair or moving her to the floor, start compressions, and use the clinic's AED while managing an airway that may contain dental material.
Learning objectives
By the end of this experience the learner can:
- Position the casualty for effective compressions in a dental setting.
- Clear the airway of dental equipment and debris.
- Apply the AED and deliver a shock safely.
- Coordinate with the dental team and the emergency call.

Procedure steps
- Recognise the collapse and call for the AED and emergency services.
- Lower the chair fully or move the patient to the floor.
- Check the airway and start compressions.
- Attach AED pads and follow the prompts.
- Continue until the patient recovers or paramedics arrive.
Assessment
Time to first compression, airway management and AED use are measured.
Equipment and setting
Standalone VR headset with hand controllers, full-scale virtual patient and equipment, instructor screen mirroring, Arabic and English interface, offline operation on the campus network.
