Medication Allergy VR Nursing Simulation
During medication administration the learner discovers a documented allergy that conflicts with the prescription, or the virtual patient reports a previous reaction. The scenario trains the safety checks: verifying the allergy band and record, withholding the drug, informing the prescriber and documenting the near-miss.
Learning objectives
By the end of this experience the learner can:
- Check allergy status at every administration.
- Recognise cross-reactivity between drug classes.
- Withhold and escalate when a conflict is found.
- Document and report the near-miss correctly.

Procedure steps
- Check the allergy band and the record against the prescription.
- Ask the patient about previous reactions.
- Withhold the medication and inform the prescriber.
- Obtain an alternative prescription and administer safely.
- Complete the incident report and update the allergy record.
Assessment
The scenario scores whether the conflict was detected before administration and the quality of the escalation.
Equipment and setting
Standalone VR headset with hand controllers, full-scale virtual patient and equipment, instructor screen mirroring, Arabic and English interface, offline operation on the campus network.
