Glucose Monitor VR Nursing Simulation
The learner performs capillary blood glucose monitoring on the virtual patient: preparing the glucometer and test strip, cleaning the fingertip, using a single-use lancet on the side of the finger, applying the sample, reading the result and acting on hypo- or hyperglycaemia.
Learning objectives
By the end of this experience the learner can:
- Prepare and calibrate the glucometer and strip correctly.
- Obtain a capillary sample safely with a single-use lancet.
- Interpret the glucose value in the clinical context.
- Respond to hypoglycaemia and hyperglycaemia according to protocol.

Procedure steps
- Verify identity, wash hands and prepare the meter.
- Clean the fingertip and allow it to dry.
- Puncture the side of the fingertip and wipe away the first drop.
- Apply the sample to the strip and read the value.
- Dispose of the lancet, treat abnormal values and document.
Assessment
Sample technique, sharps disposal and the response to the result are scored.
Equipment and setting
Standalone VR headset with hand controllers, full-scale virtual patient and equipment, instructor screen mirroring, Arabic and English interface, offline operation on the campus network.
