Additional Facilities
Supporting facilities that complete an engineering department: a technical library, an automotive engineering bay, a UAV development lab, a mechatronics lab and smart classrooms.

Overview
Beyond the core laboratories, a strong engineering department needs spaces for self-study, team projects and modern teaching. These additional facilities support student competitions, research and day-to-day learning.
ASFAN can plan and equip each facility separately or as part of a complete department fit-out.
Facilities and Equipment
Department library
- Technical book collection – textbooks across thermal, design and production engineering, mathematics and sciences
- Project and thesis reports – seminar, mini-project and final-project reports for reference
- Lab manuals, lecture notes and question banks – course support material
- Digital resources and internet access – e-books, conference proceedings and online research
Automotive engineering facility
- Chassis fabrication area – welding, fitting and structural testing
- Suspension and steering set-up tools – stability and handling tests
- Powertrain mounting fixtures – engine and drivetrain integration
- Hand tools, power tools, workbenches and tool storage – assembly and maintenance
- Team workspace – design and prototyping of student vehicles such as ATVs, go-karts and formula-style cars
UAV research and development lab
- Flight controllers (Pixhawk-class), telemetry, receivers and servos – drone assembly and control
- Brushless motors and LiPo batteries – propulsion and power
- Micro LiDAR sensors – altitude hold and obstacle sensing
- Compact 3D printer – printing frames and custom parts
- Electronics boards, tools and components – build and repair
Mechatronics lab
- Compressor and air-treatment (FRL) unit – clean, regulated compressed air
- Pneumatic cylinders and directional valves – pneumatic actuation
- Solenoid valves, sensors and relays – electro-pneumatic control
- PLC trainer – automated sequencing, e.g. A+ B+ A− B−
Smart classrooms
- Interactive smart boards – dynamic lessons and real-time interaction
- Projectors and multimedia systems – slides, videos and simulations
Learning Objectives
By the end of the training, learners will be able to:
- Use technical literature and digital resources for coursework and projects.
- Design, fabricate and test vehicle systems and prototypes in a team.
- Assemble, calibrate and fly drones manually and autonomously, and analyse aerial data safely and legally.
- Build pneumatic and electro-pneumatic circuits and program PLC sequences.
- Learn actively in multimedia, collaborative classrooms.
Career Relevance
Together these facilities support competitions, start-ups, internships and careers in automotive engineering, aerial robotics, industrial automation and smart manufacturing.
