CIM Lab
A computer-integrated manufacturing lab where learners design parts, program CNC lathes and mills in G- and M-code, simulate machining and produce finished components.

Overview
The Computer Integrated Manufacturing (CIM) Lab covers design, production planning and quality control as one connected process. Learners model a part, generate and simulate its CNC program, then machine it on a CNC lathe or milling machine and check the result.
Starting with simple parts and moving to complex ones, students experience how software and machines work together in a modern factory. ASFAN designs, supplies, installs and commissions the complete CIM Lab, with operating manuals, experiment sheets and instructor training.
Key Equipment
- Computer workstations (25+) – for drafting, modelling, simulation and programming
- CNC lathe – turning, facing and drilling
- CNC milling machine – milling, drilling and tapping
- CAM / CNC simulation software – program writing and machining simulation
- Printer and projector – for documentation and demonstrations
Learning Objectives
By the end of the training, learners will be able to:
- Design and manufacture a simple part using CAM software and a CNC machine.
- Program a CNC lathe with G- and M-codes.
- Program a CNC milling machine with G- and M-codes.
- Design and manufacture a complex part through the full CAD-CAM-CNC chain.
Career Relevance
The lab prepares learners for careers in CNC manufacturing, production planning, product design and quality control.
