Welding Shop
Arc, MIG, TIG, spot, plasma and gas welding stations where learners practise joint preparation, safe welding and weld inspection.

Overview
The Welding Shop teaches how metals are joined permanently using heat, pressure or both, with or without filler material. Learners practise the main processes used in industry – electric arc, MIG, TIG, spot (resistance) and gas welding – and plasma cutting.
Every job starts with joint preparation and protective equipment and ends with inspection, so students build safe habits along with welding skill. ASFAN designs, supplies, installs and commissions the complete Welding Shop, with operating manuals, experiment sheets and instructor training.
Key Equipment
- TIG welding machine with argon supply – high-quality welds on steel, stainless steel and aluminium
- MIG welding equipment – fast, clean welding of various metals
- Electric arc welding machine – general-purpose stick welding
- Spot welding machine – resistance welding of sheet metal
- Plasma arc welding and cutting machine with compressor – precise cutting and welding
- Oxy-acetylene gas welding set – gas welding, brazing and heating
- Electrode holders, tongs and face shields – safe handling and personal protection
Learning Objectives
By the end of the training, learners will be able to:
- Explain the principles of the main welding processes.
- Operate welding equipment safely and correctly.
- Produce lap, butt and spot-welded joints.
- Inspect welds visually and with standard tests to judge their quality.
Career Relevance
Welding skills are in demand in fabrication, construction, automotive and maintenance industries.
