A workshop titled "A Journey Through Time: Heritage Sites in Virtual Reality" was
presented by Eng. Hana Abu Al-Wafa from Asfan International Trading Company in front of the audience. The
workshop was held by the College of Antiquities and Tourism in coordination with the Head of the Department
of Heritage Resources Management and Conservation, Dr. Ruba Sa'isa, in light of the qualitative shift
brought about by virtual reality technology in the fields of heritage, tourism, and museums.
Eng. Abu Al-Wafa stated that virtual tours have developed into a useful method to be used online for virtual
visits to historical and archaeological sites. She also emphasized the significance of researching digital
reality, using cutting-edge technology to preserve ancient monuments, enhance visitors' engagement with
displays, and produce compelling digital shows as a means of documenting history. She cited the use of
drones for recording, documenting, and interpreting archaeological and heritage sites, the creation of smart
museums using artificial intelligence, the use of digital twinning to preserve the originals digitally, and
the use of various technologies like the Internet of Things to connect heritage to its original history.
